woman considering adoption

Knowing what option is right for you can be the hardest choice to be sure of, especially when faced with all the emotions that come with an unplanned pregnancy. Know that you are not alone.

Maybe you’re not ready to parent but can’t decide between abortion or adoption. Though the decision is ultimately up to you, we are here to educate you more about these two options so you can make an informed decision for your future.

Is Abortion for Me?

There are two types of abortion based on how far along you are in pregnancy, which can only be determined with an ultrasound.

Medical Abortion

Also known as the abortion pill, medical abortion ends a pregnancy using two different drugs, mifepristone, and misoprostol

Common risks linked to medical abortion include hemorrhaging (losing too much blood), infection (which can become life-threatening), and incomplete abortion (which is when parts of the pregnancy remain in the uterus).

Surgical Abortion

Surgical abortion involves dilating the cervix so that medical instruments can go into the uterus and remove the pregnancy. The risks associated with surgical abortion include:

  • Infection (which can become life-threatening)
  • Cervical damage
  • Uterine perforation

Is Adoption The Right Choice for Me?

Maybe adoption is an unclear option for you. Adoption has drastically changed over the years, allowing the birth mother to have more of a say in the adoption process. The birth mother has control over what she wants to do with her child and the type of relationship she would like with them.

Due to hard life circumstances, many women have chosen this route. Maybe you’re struggling financially, emotionally, or you know that you are not ready to parent. These are all reasons to think about adoption
